DES CANADIENS ÉVACUÉS D'HAÏTI ARRIVENT À MONTRÉAL

Le premier groupe de Canadiens coincé en Haïti à la suite du séisme de mardi est arrivé à Montréal très tôt vendredi matin.

Environ 100 personnes se trouvaient à bord de l'avion militaire qui avait amené des militaires canadiens en Haïti jeudi. Un deuxième avion était attendu plus tard à l'aéroport Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau. La patience était de mise pour les familles de ces personnes. Après leur arrivée, les personnes évacuées ont été transportées dans un hôtel près de l'aéroport. Les personnes évacuées ont été sélectionnées par le personnel de l'ambassade du Canada en Haïti, qui fonctionne toujours malgré les dommages causés par le séisme. La Croix-Rouge évalue le bilan de ce séisme à entre 40 000 et 50 000 morts.

Jusqu'ici, le tremblement de terre a fait quatre victimes canadiennes.
