FENÊTRES MIRABEL : UNE QUALITÉ OPTIMALE

Fondée en 1975, un an avant les Jeux de Montréal, Fenêtres Mirabel aurait pu tout aussi bien s’approprier la devise olympique « Plus haut, plus loin, plus fort! » Toutefois, c’est sur un souci constant d’offrir une qualité optimale qu’elle basera son histoire et son succès. Fondée en 1975, un an avant les Jeux de Montréal, Fenêtres Mirabel aurait pu tout aussi bien s’approprier la devise olympique « Plus haut, plus loin, plus fort! » Toutefois, c’est sur un souci constant d’offrir une qualité optimale qu’elle basera son histoire et son succès.

HISTORIQUE

Précisons tout d’abord que l’entreprise opère toujours dans les locaux qui l’ont vue naître en 1975. C’est trois ans plus tard, en 1978, qu’un premier agrandissement survient. Puis, en 1982, on ajoute 5 000 pi2 à l’usine. Finalement, en 1987, une troisième expansion permet à la portion usine de s’accroître d’un autre 6 000 pi2.

À ses tout débuts, Fenêtres Mirabel produisait presque exclusivement des fenêtres coulissantes, composées de 4 sections vitrées, la mode de l’époque. Ce n’est que quelques années plus tard que les vitres doubles thermo font leur apparition. Au début de la décennie 80, Fenêtres Mirabel s’attaque au marché de la fenêtre à manivelle, entièrement fabriquée en bois. Le recouvrement extérieur d’aluminium ne se fera que quelques années plus tard. Ce concept ne durera qu’un temps chez Fenêtres Mirabel, car on estimait les temps de production trop longs et le fournisseur d’aluminium principal avait été contraint à la faillite. Peu de temps après l’abandon de la production de ce type de fenêtres, le PVC fait son entrée sur le marché.

« On parle ici du PVC de première génération, qui est nettement différent de ce que l’on connaît aujourd’hui », tient à préciser Sylvain Alarie, président et fils du fondateur de Fenêtres Mirabel, Maurice Alarie. Nous sommes alors au début des années 80. Au début des années 90, le PVC de deuxième génération devient la norme chez les fabricants de fenêtres et l’entreprise laurentienne n’échappe pas à la règle. « Nous avons utilisé ce PVC pendant environ sept ans, soit jusqu’à mon arrivée au sein de l’entreprise, en 1997. Mon père avait déjà racheté les actions d’un de ses deux associés vers 1985. Pour ma part, j’ai racheté l’autre associé de mon père à mon arrivée. Dès 1998, nous avons procédé à des modifications de produits. Déjà, en 1992, on avait cessé de produire la fenêtre de bois, faute de volume », se rappelle le président de Fenêtres Mirabel.

Au tournant du siècle, Fenêtres Mirabel développe une nouvelle génération de PVC. « Je n’étais toutefois pas pleinement satisfait de ce nouveau produit. Des modifications et des améliorations y ont alors été apportées au cours des quatre à cinq années suivantes, pour en arriver à un produit pleinement performant, à mon goût. Sans doute le produit coûtait-il un peu plus cher, mais on parlait alors d’un produit de plus haute gamme », poursuit-il. Mais avant son arrivée officielle au sein de Fenêtres Mirabel, Sylvain Alarie aura fait ses classes. Retourné à l’université pour suivre un cours d’administration au milieu des années 80, Sylvain Alarie ne voyait pas beaucoup d’ouverture et avoue qu’il avait besoin d’argent.

Les postes étant tous comblés au sein de Fenêtres Mirabel et, se basant sur une étude réalisée antérieurement sur le marché et la faisabilité d’une entreprise fabriquant des portes en acier, on décide de lancer Portes d’acier DSA. Nous sommes alors en 1988. Une décision fort heureuse, puisqu’aujourd’hui, cette division génère un chiffre d’affaires important pour le groupe.

QUALITÉ, TOUJOURS QUALITÉ

Dès son arrivée au sein de l’entreprise, Sylvain Alarie n’avait qu’une idée en tête : la constante qualité des produits fabriqués. Certes penserez-vous qu’il en va de même pour toute entreprise, mais ce souci omniprésent cachait en fait un double objectif : réduire le nombre et les coûts d’intervention du service après-vente au minimum et, évidemment, positionner le produit Mirabel parmi les meilleurs sur le marché. En réduisant le nombre d’interventions après-vente, on permettait aux vendeurs de consacrer encore plus de temps à la prospection, au développement de marché et à la vente proprement dite. « Évidemment, nous ne pouvons pas éliminer le service après-vente complètement, car il y aura toujours une plainte ou deux ici et là. Mais nous tendons vraiment vers une qualité quasi parfaite qui nous permettrait éventuellement de minimiser ce temps improductif. »

LA PROCHAINE ÉTAPE

Logée à la même adresse depuis sa création, Fenêtres Mirabel projette d’emménager dans un nouvel édifice prochainement. « Nous en sommes à l’approbation finale des plans. Il ne nous restera plus qu’à trouver l’emplacement idéal pour maintenir et accroître nos opérations. Nous n’avons cependant pas d’échéancier prédéterminé. Qu’il soit complété en 2013, 2014 ou 2015, le prochain édifice qui abritera Fenêtres Mirabel sera encore plus propice à générer cette qualité de produit à laquelle notre clientèle s’attend depuis plus de 36 ans. D’ici là, nous continuons à moderniser nos équipements, toujours dans cette optique de qualité optimale », conclut le dynamique président.

Notons en terminant que le territoire visé par l’entreprise s’étend de Mont-Tremblant au nord, jusqu’à la couronne sud de Montréal, et de Repentigny, à l’est, jusqu’à Lachute, à l’ouest.
