MÉMÉ MADONNA

Je me disais, en lisant ce qui s’écrit sur le dernier pseudo scandale concernant Madonna, que les choses n’ont vraiment que l’importance qu’on leur donne.

Je n’entrerai pas dans une polémique artistique sur la valeur du talent de la « Material girl », considérant qu’à ce chapitre les styles musicaux ont le droit à la coexistence. Personnellement elle me laisse froid. Le seul crédit que je lui accorde, c’est que c’est une habile femme d’affaires qui sait très bien tirer son épingle du jeu. Car elle réussit contre vents et marées, dans un univers de la musique pop où bientôt les carrières dureront une année à peine. Car le public jette vite aux oubliettes ce qu’il adulait hier.

Mais là ce n’est pas tant Madonna elle-même qui m’énerve (elle a bien le droit, après tout, de payer son bifteck comme elle peut), mais les fanatiques et les observateurs du milieu artistique qui la porte aux nues. Je la voyais au Super Bowl fendre l’air de toute son énergie de quinquagénaire. Je me disais mais qu’est-ce qu’il en faut, de bébelles techno, pour habiller ce talent somme toute très moyen. En plus, je conseille toujours aux 50 ans et plus de suivre le conseil de feu le docteur Schreiber, mort du cancer, qui recommandait comme ultime conseil d’apprendre à se reposer.

J’étais en compagnie de Geneviève Borne. On jasait de façon bien formelle, entre gens du même milieu. Une conversation somme toute assez superficielle, la Borne m’énervant toujours un peu. Et en cours de conversation, elle me témoignait de son admiration éperdue pour Madonna. Si me je souviens bien, elle l’avait même interviewée. Qu’importe. Toujours est-il que, un brin provocateur, je lui ai dit que si elle faisait l’objet de son émerveillement c’était sans doute pour sa grande liberté de mœurs. Ce à quoi elle acquiesça.

- Alors supposons que Madonna, te voyant, t’avais proposé de coucher avec elle. Qu'aurait été ta réaction ?

- Ah! Bien non par exemple.

C’est pour ça que ce qui me fatigue chez ces fans, c’est qu’ils vivent par procuration à travers leurs idoles. Alors que dans mon livre à moi, vaut mieux être une véritable star dans la vie et faire de celle-ci un art, plutôt que d’enrichir ces vedettes à coût de 350$ le billet. Dans le cas de Madonna, un revendeur a même tenté de refiler un billet à 5000$. Faut-y être malade. Cessons de faire tout un plat avec ces mégastars qui capitalisent sur l’impuissance des gens à se réaliser eux-mêmes.
